Boxelder is a species of maple native to North America. Sometimes called Three-leaved Maple because it is the only North American maple with compound leaves. Boxelder is a fast-growing and fairly short-lived tree which has several trunks and can form impenetrable thickets. Although light, close-grained, and a soft wood, it is considered undesirable for most uses. Except for the burl wood which is highly prized for decorative pieces. The natural Boxelder burl of this pen has been stablized adding to it's beauty and lustor.
